Studying in Canada:

Canadian Universities and colleges offer complete education experience to the students who wish to study in Canada. Like the USA, universities and colleges have a lot many foreign students studying to complete their graduate and post graduate studies. The main advantage of studying in Canada is the cost factor, education here costs less than what it does in the United States.

Metro Immigration has tied up with various universities and colleges in Canada to help students get admission and even apply for their visas after getting them admission.

International Study Permits

A study permit issued by Canadian Immigration Authorities allows a foreign national to study in Canada for a limited time in a specified Canadian educational institute. The applicant must have an acceptance letter from a recognised educational institute in Canada and must have sufficient funds for tuition and living costs.

Study Permit holders must obtain a Canadian Visitor Visa unless they are citizens of a visa exempt country. Applicants who wish to study in Quebec also require approval from the provincial authorities. The student authorization is generally valid for the duration of the course being undertaken by the applicant in any recognised Canadian educational institution. However, foreign nationals on study permits studying in the province of Quebec must get their status renewed every year.

Study Permits Are Not Required:

A Study Permit is not required if the applicant:
intends to take a French or English language training course that is not longer than three months in duration
is the spouse or dependent child of: a diplomatic or consular officer; a representative of a foreign country; or a representative of the United Nations or any other intergovernmental organization of which Canada is a member.

Working in Canada
Under the new regulations an international student can work off campus for a maximum of 20 hrs. per week. In addition the spouses of the foreign nationals on valid study permit are eligible to work temporarily in Canada

Important

Foreign nationals on student authorization are considered as visitors in Canada. While going for their final interview with the immigration authorities of at the time of entering Canada they must be able to satisfy the authorities that their visit to Canada is of a temporary nature.
