Mr. Suresh Gupta (Biography)
"No system is perfect but I believe Canadian immigration policy and system is one of the best designed in the world", says Suresh Gupta, Owner of Metro Immigration, an Ontario based immigration consulting company that provides service related to every aspect of Canadian Immigration. Having started 12 years ago, the company has grown along with the growth of Canadian Immigration industry. Today Metro Immigration has two senior directors and shareholders – Mr. Suresh Gupta and his wife Sunita Gupta as well very seniors, well qualified staff in Canada and abroad, "My wife with her teaching background and academic experience has also significantly contributed to the growth of this company", says Mr. Suresh Gupta.
Mr. Suresh Gupta feels that his strong administrative skills had led to his successful Immigration business.
"I came to Canada when I was just 19 years old and I studied computer programming at Humber College in Toronto. My first job was as a Manager in a division of Toronto Stock Exchange that primarily handled  mutual funds processing back then, I believe administratively I brought massive changes in that company at that time. I also worked for the Immigration and Refugee board and did various assignments for RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Place) and Durham Police", relates Mr. Suresh Gupta.
"I am also licensed as a language teacher and have briefly taught as an ESL instructor at a local school in the evening back them. But eventually I started this company and today we provide very efficient and effective immigration service to our clients. I have also successfully represented server people at the appeal division with 'Sponsorship Appeals' tells Mr. Suresh Gupta.
"We effectively deal with “Immigration under spousal category", where a person sponsors his or her spouse, conjugal partner and this sponsor and applicant has lots of questions. It may sound simple but it is a very complex mechanism as people can be rejected on basis of suspicion by the officer. It is a known fact that many people use Canada as a conduit to migrate through fake marriages. This is why Visa Post is very cautious to ensure that fake application do not seeps through the system", elaborated Mr. Suresh Gupta.
In-depth screening, at times, causes a few good applications to get rejected, "We have a special section that deals with such cases and before applying we make sure that only genuine and good data is furnished in a very clear and concise manner. All details are well documented and then correctly reflected", described Mr. Suresh Gupta while reflecting the complexities of the application submitted to the visa post.
"I am very particular about ensuring that Canada’s Immigration Policy is well respected and its integrity is well maintained. Though I am not a part of advocacy for the government but I consider it my duty to see the system is not abused", reflects Mr. Suresh Gupta.
The company deals with Family Class immigration, Skilled Worker applications, Student Visa, Business Immigration and Investor visa etc.
Family class visa includes parents, grandparents, orphan nephew and nieces and is a complex application process, as minimum income requirements are involved in this process here at Canada. “Minimum income requirement have to be met and maintained during the processing of the application; numerous documents are to be checked and then submitted to local CPC. Each and every sponsor must qualify an various requirements including income. Our duty is to also to see that the data submitted correctly", says Suresh Gupta.
Skilled worker application has also become a lot more complex since the introduction of IRPA (Immigration an d Refugee Protection Act) in 2002.
Under IRPA, Canadian Immigration policy is so well coded. The provincial governments are encouraged to develop their immigration policies according to their immigration policies according to their provincial needs. Many provinces in Canada have successfully designed their own immigration programs (PNP), which helps them pick and choose their own immigrants, the way they like. However, the federal program is still there. In a nutshell, I would say that the Canadian immigration system has evolved from a very crude one to a very well programmed and well coded one.
When I look back, I wonder how the (officers) managed so well. I salute these officers especially at Delhi High Commission for managing such a huge volume so effectively. I salute them for having managed such an unclear, ambiguous and cluttered program in the past’, remarks Mr. Suresh Gupta.
Another, clause of IRPA is the language requirement; every single applicant had now to go through a language test (IELTS) is definitely a very good step in the right direction. IRPA is seriously fast moving towards business category immigration as Canada needs investors and business entrepreneurs who can create jobs and contribute to the nation’s economics progress.
Student Visa is very important for Canada today as every country is built on the talent of bright young population. Overseas students in Canada spend money to study in Canada, get trained accordingly and become a well trained important work force. “Canada has been very good in selecting qualifies students with high IELTS score; as language command leads to reasonable easy access to job market. I advise the students in India to work hard on languages skill; as any student scoring less than 6.5 in IELTS must think twice before applying as a student for Canada", suggests Mr. Suresh Gupta who foresees  Canada attracting even more students from India.
With the economy bouncing back, Canada had become an attractive destination for immigrants. “Having lived in Canada more than three decades, I can say that it is one of best nations in the world with an exceptional infrastructure and regulatory system. Whether one is the rich or poor, old or disabled, educated or unsophisticated in Canada, the system looks after you very well and with great respect. The probability of personal abuse is very little here and the country is very well administered including good Medicare, clean air, water and very little pollution. The province Ontario has the best recycling programs and I urge my fellow Indians to adopt the same to recycle all the rubbish in the country. India needs to do some serious home work, even though I am seriously proud of its current economic progress", says Suresh Gupta while seriously urging all applicants to submit only ‘genuine and authentic’ document while applying.
